We are very concerned about the United Nation’s principles governing civil society organizations. Specifically, the principle of impartiality which is described by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) as an understanding that “humanitarian action must be carried out on the basis of need alone, giving priority to the most urgent cases of distress and making no distinctions on the basis of nationality, race, gender, religious belief, class or political opinions”. We have long being seeking to ensure impartiality through a highly rational approach to aid provision and we have being impartial and acting in keeping with the general spirit of the humanitarian principles because we placed high emphasis on need as a key criteria for aid provision and because we developed an approach which sought to promote and preserve the dignity of the affected population.
